2004年的最后一天

记得以前在北京上学的时候,特别期待每年的最后一天,因为班里都会有联欢会.把教室布置一下,想几出节目,再到各班串一串.热热闹闹的.

今年,看来我得病着迎接新的一年了.早上起来就觉得不对劲.头晕脑胀的.看来感冒已经完全发作了.中午老妈请物理组的同事吃饭,让我也去.在九头鸟吃的湖北菜.一直聊到下午三点.回来陪老爸老妈看天下无贼.片子是不错.不过看完我也快挂了.

不行,得去歇歇了...

聚会

今天是初中同学的聚会.出席者有:肥猴,工头,郑厨,凌律师,刘航和在下我这个当年的班长.

地方是凌律师定的,所以比较小资一点.在中友楼下的季诺意大利餐厅.后来发现大家普遍对此不满,还是中餐好啊... 至于那里的食物,我看跟munchie monkey比还差着些.

肥猴在清华紫光,工头在三菱电梯,郑厨在中国电力,刘航刚辞了北京现代的活准备要出国.凌涛涛在通商律师事务所当律师,开始到处发名片,说是明年也要出国了.令我吃惊的是,这个我初中时代最要好的朋友,竟然也开始抽烟了.虽说在北京抽烟的人多,但是女孩子抽烟也不那么多见吧.

人是一个一个来的,于是有一套问题我需要不断重复地回答:
1. 你什么时候回来的?
2. 你什么时候走啊?
3. 你现在干什么呢? 怎么还没毕业啊???
4. 毕业以后有什么打算?
5. 你现在还是中国公民吗?

下次应该先写个牌子挂在脖子上.

大家买房的买房,买车的买车. 两个要结婚了,有的正在同居. 说起话来都是联系业务什么的. 其实我倒觉得还是和小学同学的聚会比较舒服. 因为大多数都有留学经历,还在读书,家庭背景也比较像,比较有话说. 初中的这帮人,都是在北京窝了20几年的,也都工作了,说的好多事情我都不太懂.

回来的时候是坐刘航的MAZDA 6.

糖果在唱歌

today had primary school class outing. so called class outing actually just got 3 of us. my class is very weird, more than half of the class is overseas in all kinds of countries ranging from japan to brazil, spain to singapore, britain to australia... those still in beijing are already working, those not may not be having holiday now. so there we were: me, my 干哥哥 who came back from malaysia a few months ago and currently zuo boing at home, and this guy who just flew back from france last week. the france guy i haven't seen him ever since graduated from primary school, hmm... let me calculate... 10 yrs liao leh... but funny thing is the two of them still look the same as back then.

met up outside the gate of our primary sch which is 30min walk from my house. and no one had any idea where to go. in the end, i was dragged to go KTV by the two guys. diao... protest all deemed void coz i m not paying for anything at all... went to this place called 糖果, somewhere near 雍和宫. well i got completely no idea where exactly it is except that it's east of my house. no idea how far it is also.

haha and the KTV session has turned out to be a 怀旧歌曲大联唱. all the old old old songs came out. most of the time i just sat there listening lor. it's quite funny hearing them shouting at the top of their lungs trying to reach the high keys. but actually they sing pretty well. must be frequent KTV goers.

well had a fun day. just it's quite hard to describe it in words. guess it's always good to catch up with old frenz once in a while, to see how they turned out to be...

滴水成冰

楼下平房的屋檐下,结了一串串的冰溜子. (note: 冰溜子 is a long, cone shaped ice formed as water drips and gets frozen. the snow on the rooftop melted and drip down, forming this kinda ice hanging on the roof.) 好久没看到了.

not only that, in the corridor of my building, there is this mop dripping water above a bucket. and it was so cold the water dripping down got frozen also. tot it's quite funny.

today saw this cute little doggie dressed in a blue bunny outfit. the owner held it and let me take photo when she saw that i m so interested in it. haha super cute! it's 1 yr old.

earthquake?!?!

was eating lunch and watching tv. and saw the news of the earth quake... wahhhh... luckily ray them went phuket one week plus earlier... it looked so tragic on tv...

hmm hope i would go back and find my hall gone or flooded or anything. hehe...

the day after christmas

finished my last isp report last night... yeah!!!

this afternoon i was trying to download the HR presentation video in my video cam to a computer. since my laptop is too slow to do that, i borrowed my mother's one. last june i installed the required software in her laptop and knowing she wouldn't uninstall any software of which the usage she's not sure of, i confidently didn't bring back and installation disk. what i didn't know was that her laptop kenna virus some time ago and was reformatted. anyway even if i did bring back any disk it was impossible to install on her computer as well. coz her CD drive is stuck and can't be open.

i was left with the option of transferring the installed version of adobe premiere in my computer to hers. used my mp3 player. it took me about half an hour to transfer and some files turned out to be corrupted. in total frustration i pulled it out without safely remove hardware first and now my mp3 player got some format problem, can't be used at all. after i get back to singapore, i need to bring it to repair liao... sob sob... luckily still under warranty...

well i guess i was stupid that i didn't think of using my new removable hard disk to do the transfer. totally forgot its existence until my mother reminded me. wow the transfer is fast! but... sadly... invalid registration information and the programme can't be used. wasted so much time and still didn't get anything constructive done. destructive ones, yes...

sometimes all these high tech stuff can be so frustrating. when it was all manual, at least u could make some effort to make it done. now, u can only stare and pull ur hair... while we enjoy the convenience that these things bring to us, we grow so much dependent on them.

went shopping with my parents in the late afternoon. there is this overhead bridge outside e shopping mall. when we reached there were so many ppl crowded at that area. hmm... 2 gals were having horrible cat fight and a guy who passed by was trying to separate them. heard from passers by that one gal actually got a 3 or 4 inches long knife which was already disarmed by the guy. what i saw was this gal with pony tail, was pulling the hair of a long hair gal. can't see the face of the long hair gal at all coz her hair was being pulled and her head was low. she seems quite defenseless. can tell from the way they shouts that the long hair gal is a third party who stole the husband of the pony tail gal from her... hmm... this kinda thing... what century liao? can always use civilized methods to solve mah... and there were so many ppl, only one guy went out to try to stop the fight. the rest just stood on and watch movie. someone even took out his digital camera to take photos. diao...

二代证

1984年,中国政府发行第一代身份证,其上注明二十年过期. 2004年底,百万身份证即将到期. 12月底,报纸上出现了发行二代身份证的通知. 所有居民,无论身份证何时过期,都应尽快改办二代证. 于是乎,无数人涌向各个派出所. 现在离2004年年底只有几天的时间了. 旧的身份证不许延期. 新的身份证需一个月才能做好,于是乎,又需要派出所开介绍信去办三个月的临时身份证. 所以派出所里都人满为患.

家里三人,两个年底到期. 户口又各在不同的地方,而且全都不在现在住的地区. 要把身份证办在居住地段就需要先迁户口,而又牵扯到房产的问题. 真是牵一发而动全身. 麻烦的要命. 全家东奔西跑一个下午也没办成什么.

试问如果政府早半年就开始实行旧证换新证,或者允许旧证延期,不就解决了这许多问题?

北京平安夜

平安夜加周末,傍晚时分,北京城里堵了个水泄不通. 中国人上赶着过洋节,一个个乌央乌央的往外跑. 在阜城门附近的香帅酒楼吃了一顿湘菜. 其中有一道南瓜和一道红烧肉还不错. 还有一个辣椒炒里脊,里脊很嫩,那个辣椒是什么杭州辣椒,长得跟扁豆差不多,我们还在说为什么扁豆是辣的呢,敢情它就是辣椒. 还有一个清炖乳鸽汤,一个什么虾,一个生鱼片,还有什么别的我忘了.

后来去青年宫电影院看"功夫". 因为堵车,迟到了10分钟.发现北京的电影院不但票贵,而且不对号入座.去晚了只能捡那些散的空位坐. 电影还不错,不过老爸睡着了. 他说看电视看习惯了,看了一会儿就觉得该有广告,该歇着了.

回来的路上看到一美丽景致. 我们前面几米有一辆大巴, 车顶上松散的积雪随风而下, 洋洋洒洒, 像烟一样. 撒在地上, 车辆驶过, 有风, 碎雪被风吹着, 不断形成各种图案, 如流云一般...

回来想想,其实可能还不如窝在家吃个饭,陪爸妈看看铁齿铜牙纪晓岚. 王刚演的和珅实在是太可爱了!

x'mas eve and release of results

woke up exceptionally early today to check results. what a wonderful x'mas present nus has given us... haiz... average score. some modules good, some bad, but cap remained totally unchanged. guofeng's msn nick is 'sucky', qinghui's one is 'disappointed'. lerming's one: 'finally out of 3rd class... for those above me... Buzz off!!'. zhiwei: '2nd lower fighter...' haha guess the release of results changed a lot of ppl's mood today, for better or worse.

finally one semester left and having headache about what modules to choose again. time for a bit of year end reflection: what have i achieved in the four years in nus? cap not very high, knowledge wise still half a bucket of water, din socialise much, joined not many activities, not much leadership training, din even travel much. end of the four years, felt like there is nothing much significant at all. still no direction, no achievement, no promising future... no nothing. the four of us, 2 have found the significant other, probably getting married soon and more or less decided where they are gonna be, knowing what they wanna do. one mostly probably will graduate with first class honours and be a high flyer earning big bucks. it's hard not to compare and feel kinda loser. 2004, another not so good yr for me.

雪还在下

中午出门去超市的时候,还有零星的雪花飘着,不过没有昨天的大了. 主要的道路上积雪已经清的差不多了. 倒是人行道上还有不少的积雪, 加上夜里结了冰, 鞋又有点儿滑, 一路打了好几个趔趄. 所幸的事, 总算平安到家, 没有摔倒.

俗话说,'下雪不冷化雪冷',今天好像的确比昨天还冷. 不过话说回来,除了有点冷,路不好走之外,下雪天的天气,是冬天里最好的. 没什么风,空气清新而且湿润,再加上美的不得了的小雪花,简直太幸福了! 虽然没什么事情要办,下午吃过了饭,还是出去转了一圈,不然太浪费了.

回来的时候天已经黑了. 冬天就是这样,太阳一下山,气温骤降,没走几步,就冻得找不着脚趾头了. 手里倒是提着一双新买的长筒靴子,杏色的,才100块人民币,和过来也就20新币,在charles and keith 买一双鞋都不够,实在是值了.

孙伟同学打电话来说我真命好,想看下雪就真的下雪了,多少人上班迟到呢! 也就是我这种闲人,还有这种小孩子的心情. 今年的冬天好快乐!

a happy painful day

woke up to realise 2 things: it has snowed over night and i m having a severe stomach cramp. been waiting for this day for so long! i haven't seen snow for 2 yrs already. and yet, i can't go out... can barely walk around for more than 10min before the periodic cramp sets in. and then i will double up on the sofa...

after two hours of pain, finally called my parents say i cannot make it liao. they came back during lunch break to take me to hospital. took 3 hrs at the hospital. did blood test and so on... came back with a plastic bag of medicine and swallowed a handful of it. think today shall just rest...

it was still snowing when we went out. average snowfall, not v heavy. but since it snowed overnight, it has already become a world out white... rooftops, trees, cars, ground... everything is covered by snow. and snowflakes were falling down from the sky... heehee so beautiful so fun! managed to take a few photos...

stomach still a bit pain now... but feeling hungry, a sign of recovery. the doctor say must eat 清淡. so my mother is playing on that, dun allow me to eat anything with a little bit of oil. then she purposely sat in front of me eating a bowl of 大红枣. and put it in front of my nose let me smell, saying '好香啊!' then dun let me eat say it's not cooked. diao... then tell me she's going to cook this and that lah and i can't eat lah... purposely 馋我. after she observed the reaction she wanna see, she kept laughing... so evil! think tonight i m having plain porridge with fermented bean curd... haiz...

today was commented that i still look like a student and having student lifestyle. well... i am wat... dun quite like the tone my fren was using as if it's not a good thing as if i m supposed to be a grown up but still pretending to be a kid. my frenz here are almost all working class already and the gap btw them and me are getting bigger. i still quite enjoy this innocent student lifestyle of mine, which sadly won't last long. can't quite imagine what their lifestyle is like but just dun like the way they are trying to 'teach' me sth about life.

anyway was talking to my fren abt work and income. actually now the average income among my peers is quite high according to my fren. in big companies can easily get 5000 and above renminbi a month. and a civil servant in shanghai is paid 10000/mth. just some time ago, a newbie in the IT industry has starting pay of 30000 to 40000. given the living costs in china, it's almost equivalent to getting that much of S$ and spend in Singapore. i dunno how true is that but he's a civil servant in the tax department of Beijing so how wrong can that be? well... probably Singapore is more stable but less opportunity. look at us, graduating with a second upper honours or even first degree, and getting a pathetic a little over 2000 starting pay and work like a horse. haiz... are we a bit underpaid then? if that's the case, i wonder how singapore retain talents... can easily get a more relaxing and better paid job overseas lor.

well... half a yr more and we shall see...

zoo

today woke up v early... yawns... coz meeting a fren of mine. haven't seen him for over a year already. he's taking half day leave today to meet me. and we went to beijing zoo. haha... funny hor? actually every time we meet up somehow we would end up going zoo.

today is freakishly cold!!! actually might not be a good idea to stay outdoor. the lake in the zoo is all frozen. a lot of animals were all sleeping... saw birds, monkeys, wolves, tigers and lions, elephants, penguines, girrafes, hippos, polar bears, snakes, bats, and pandas... there was this pair of tigers posing together as if they are going to take a picture, and a panda was munching on bamboo. saw this cute yellow cat wandering around in the zoo. should be an abandoned cat 混吃混喝 there. it liked me a lot. when it saw me, it walked towards me and rub its body on my legs and walk in circles around me and play with my gloved hand. so cute! my fren tried to attract its attention with food but apparently it prefers me to food! haha... we fed the cat one sausage. its whiskers seemed to be burnt before. its abnormally short and a bit black at the end.

had lunch at the steamboat restaurant called 小肥羊. purposely went to the branch at 五棵松, which is said to be the biggest branch in beijing. steamboat beijing style is called 涮羊肉 locally. coz the main dishes are 羊肉 and 牛肉 sliced into such thin pieces that it's cooked in seconds. good to have such a hot meal in such a cold day.

today is actually quite a boring day. went shopping in the afternoon. bought a jacket and a pair of formal pants... haha using vouchers!!! so they are free!!! and there is sales so bought the two with price of one! hmm saw someone selling pirated dvd. and there is even blade III!!! which is not even shown in singapore?!?! and Closer!!! which is also not even shown in singapore! and Clean by maggie cheung. again also not shown yet... wahhh... crazy world...

having major problem with my blog. can't view it and can't edit my posts. well, in other words i can't see the comments posted by any of u all also. think there is really sth wrong with my internet connection.

anyway here is one correction. it's actually not 淮阳菜 but 淮扬菜, coz it's originated from 淮河, 扬州 area.

tml will be damn cold. weather forecast say the temperature is -7 to 1 degrees. crazy leh... my mother is bugging me that i have quite a few things to settle... ahhhh... nag nag nag... doggies outside all wearing sweaters liao, got sleeves one some more... dun wanna go out when it's so cold leh...

华宴

my dad's fren treated my family for lunch today at this high class restaurant called 华宴. they even have guards outside to open the car door for us... woohoo... it's a very chinese style restaurant. the inner decoration is very classy, opting for a antique like style, lined with golden deco and carvings. we had a room to ourselves and there is even gold dragon on the wall. and they have one waitress to serve the whole course and she would be standing by in the room most of time for the customers' convenience. the waitresses also wear very chinese style clothes also, looks like they walked right out of a period movie. actually really should have taken photos but it's kinda paiseh.

the restaurant specialise in 淮阳菜 and 官府菜. for those dunno, both are members of the very wide range of 菜系 in chinese food. 淮阳菜 was the style appointed for the first 国宴 by the prime minister of China back in 1949. and 官府菜 as the name suggests was the dishes the 达官贵人 in ancient beijing used to enjoy. both are not of extreme tastes. as in 咸淡适中, 不油不腻. ordered a few dishes and the one that i love most is the sharks' lips. the soup is so thick it's almost jelly like. the base is prepared using 三岁以上的老母鸡. it's golden yellow in colour. and inside got sharks's lips and fins. (quite a lot of 料 some more). although i think sharks are v poor thing but nevertheless i did enjoy the dish a lot a lot. almost wanted to lick the bowl... haha

another dish i like a lot was 清蒸狮子头. it belongs to 淮阳菜系. in 淮阳菜 got this famous 三头: 狮子头,鲈鱼头,猪头. of course the latter two got their specified cooking methods lah but i only remember the material. for those dunno so called 狮子头 is not using lion's head hor, it's actually meatball. coz it's big, about a size of a fist, so looks a bit like the head of a lion. usu got a few cooking methods including 清蒸 and 红烧. before this i only had 红烧 ones in sch canteen only haha... but this 清蒸狮子头 is very famous and really up to the standard. think they got put 荸荠, 有点甜甜脆脆的,吃起来不会腻. some more its soup is like heavenly also...

another dish worth mentioning was a spicy 甲鱼. supposed to be good but din quite like it. and this was this dunno wat 麻鸭. it flew semi-processed all the way to beijing from hu bei. coz heard in beijing they just can't get e taste correct. it's a bit 麻辣, those dry kind, not oily at all. quite nice. oh ya and there was this 黄桥火烧. 黄桥 is a place somewhere in 江苏. 火烧 is a kinda 点心, with lots of 芝麻 on top. 非常酥脆!!! 好吃的不得了!

skipped one day of blogging, let me back track a bit. actually not much also. played badminton again. and while i was playing with zhishen think i made him run too much, poor guy fell down and twisted his ankle. dunno how he is now. zhishen if u are reading, rem to go see doc k?

i can't view my blog leh... dunno if becoz my connection too slow or sth with the site. haiz...

at home, finally...

plane took off at about 12 midnight. i was sitting at the window seat in the last row of the entire plane (boeing 777, 2-4-2 seats), there is no one sitting beside me so i had both seats to myself. actually singapore looks quite beautiful at night esp viewing from up there. all the lights lining the streets, buildings... and huge planes resting in their parking slot like big birds... so there i go, byebye singapore, with kinda a heavy heart.

the turbulance was horrible that night, the plane was shaking so much that the water in my cup kept splashing out. probably it's becoz it's at the end of the plane bah. had supper and the lights were dimmed at 2am. soon i fell asleep. was woken up at 5am by announcement saying the plane would be landing in 20min time. took a few seconds to register it in my mind. was i dreaming? the plane was scheduled to land at 6.25am not 5 plus... how issit possible? overheard the conversation of one passenger with the air stewdess. apparently the direction we were flying was the same as the wind so the plane sped up. der... wondering if they have speed limit in the air. should fine them for speeding.

just let me take my own sweet time then. since i was sitting at the last row of plane (which happens quite often nowadays for dunno wat reason), i might as well sit until the ppl in front all get out. and then, there was filling of heath report card, queuing to get screened. the most funny thing is the custom didn't expect the flight to be so much earlier they were not open when the plane landed. when i reached the custom (assuming i was one of the last passengers on the plane), only two counters were open and there were two long long queues. later on more counters opened up and ppl rush to them like they are participants of amazing race. i remained in my line. no point rushing, the luggage is probably not out yet. and later on, once again as it was so early, the trolleys at the luggage claim were still all locked. ppl haven't come to work yet. spotted my suitcase, took my bag and went out.

the thing is, i told my parents i would reach at 6.25am and come out probably at 7am. given their characters, dun think they would be there earlier than that. i had no hp, and not a single cent of renminbi with me (coz given my character, it was natural that last time i went back singapore i forgot to pack the wallet with renminbi inside). worse still i got no winter clothes. luckily packed one extra sweater so wouldn't freeze to death. came out before 6am and as i expected my parents were no where in sight. there is only one thing i can do: wait. how was it said in the movie terminal? 'life is waiting.' suddenly realised how dettached i've become to this city. as in a sense that i would have some problem living independently here, not like i do in singapore. feeling a bit helpless.

waited till i dozed off on the chair. i was 1 hr early, and my parents were half an hour late. plunged into bed and feel deeply asleep the moment i reached home. woke up at 4pm. and to my surprise, it's still kinda dark... it's such a gloomy day, it literally looks like evening for the whole day. now it's completely dark at 5pm. think i would need some time to adjust to it.

my dad looks like he's aged quite a bit. although i haven't seen him for only a few months. but his mood seems alright now. probably already over the worst part. but heard that my uncle has tumour in his brain and it turned out to be e4 xing4. my aunty cries everyday and my cousin is also very worried. haiz...

my mother is asking me to eat dinner now. so will stop here for now.

nomad

today met sup, played 2 hrs of badminton during which weifa got smashed several times one of them was by me, watched ocean's twelve at jurong point. it's an interesting show, but not extremely nice. a bit hard to understand some of the jokes... after volleyball, got suan about my badminton skills... haiz... am i that lousy?

i just started packing my luggage... flying off in 22 hrs time. suddently got a bit melancholy. remember when i was a kid, how i loved packing! every time go 郊游, i enjoyed the packing process most. it was a good feeling to be able to decide what to pack, what to leave behind. packing in a sense, is the prior step to going away. and going away, was such a fantasy. 8 yrs ago, when i bought my first suitcase, started shopping on things i would need and liked to bring over, the excitement was so memorable... how did the song go? 'a suitcase full of dreams...' pack a condensed form of my life in the luggage and there i was going to face the unknowns. i tot it would be fun.

and here i am, packing again, for the umpteenth time... and how i hate it now. luggage is not a lot this time. but it has never been about the amount of luggage, it's about i m going away again. so many times i flew to and fro, so many times ppl say goodbye bon voyage, and so many times of shifting from here to there... all the suitcases, all the boxes, all the bags... just to remind me that i have to go again, i have to shift again... probably i m getting old, other than going on a short trip with friends, i dun enjoy traveling any more.

saying this it sounds weird. coz sometimes i nag alot about being homesick. i remember the earlier years, every time i would look forward to go home so much and always dread that i have to come back again. if i could choose, i probably would have never come back. but since when, i dun wanna think abt it, dun wanna pack my bag till the last min as my departure date gets closer... since when as i had to say byebye to frenz who were sending me off, i feel sad and reluctant to go... since when, there started to have things i care for and things i would miss here... but believe me, after a few days at home, the thought of having to come back to sch is really a dread. the one of having to leave my parents and not being able to stay with them, take care of them is even worse... probably, i just dun want to move... i just want to stay at one place, with all those i care being around me. ppl like me, and the bugs, we are like a hybrid of two cultures, we are like standing at the cross road dunno where to go, being constantly torn. we want to settle down, but where?

there are definitely more travelling in the future, and to more places also. seems like it's inevitable. but i m starting to feel, that i may not be a nomad by nature...

horrible Hi/Lo lesson

not a remarkable day except that really talked a lot... from 11am to 6pm chatted almost non-stop... then some more of talking at night. it's amazing where got so much stuff to talk about...

went to cineleisure amore for Hi/Lo lesson. first time with this instructor and i truly dislike her... first of all, she started the lesson 10min late. and for the beginning part she was announcing that all branches will close at 5pm on x'mas eve and new yr eve and not open on x'mas and new yr day. and she's so fierce!!! 'all branches will close at 5pm SHARP! remember it's 5pm SHARP!!! SHARP!' yes yes we get it... by the time she started the workout, i think i already wasted $2 liao lor. (60min for $10, u do the math.) anyway her steps are a bit confusing and she's not making much effor to teach, not even leading us all the time but standing there and talk expecting us to rem all the steps. and when ppl have no response to her qns like 'are u tired?' THIS IS YOUR WORKOUT NOT MINE!' and do those faces that mean 'these ppl are hopelessly stupid why am i teaching them'. diao... who does she think she is??? for one thing she has the worst body shape among all the amore instructors i've seen lor. and i mean both male and female instructors. that huge tummy... totally not convincing about the effect of her lesson. she must hate her job man... just wondering why amore hasn't sacked her yet. then she went into cool down way too early... super slack leh... and there was this 'u are tired right? so later dun let me catch any of u all shopping ah! i recognize all ur faces!' and apparently the sense of time only kicked into her mind when the lesson end, coz she ended it accurately on time. then where did my $2 go???

feeling like i had a very horrible secondary sch PE lesson. first amore class that i din enjoy at all, and frankly i m quite pissed. some more not even tired...

sentosa

spent the whole afternoon at sentosa. it's been raining for quite a few days but today it's a sunny day. so lucky! ppl present include: me, small ray, guofeng, weisheng, zhiwei, roger, ivan. played beach volleyball. haha yes i m very lousy. lack of strength and accuracy, haven't been playing for v long liao also. last time i play... jc pe lesson? wahahaha... then stupid ivan always laugh at me until i dun wanna be in same gp as him. the funniest thing is every time the ball rolls down the beach, someone has to run as fast as he can to catch it before it goes into the sea. it looks really funny. anyway we are all not professionals and invented this rule that bounce once still can play. haha... and try to bend and bend and bend the rule. got a few times volleyball evolved into soccer... *sweat* and ray got a beautiful header over the net. we were all so shocked.

there was once these two gals walking past by wearing bikinis, and all the guys were sooooooo distracted they could never serve the ball over the net for quite a while... haiz... loss of power upon seeing gals... cmi... but as we were finally leaving saw the two gals close up again and the truth is the distraction is totally not worth it.

after that the guys jumped into the water for a swim. i stayed on the beach to take photos. heard the sea is really dirty. luckily...

throughout the trip had a few major fights with ivan involving serious kicking punching slapping pinching... anyway today realised that ivan's lovehandle has become super big!!! haha but as he was trying to bribe me with treats and i pinched his arm blue black i shall not post the photos here and the link of the album will be distributed exclusively. these guys ah... as roger used to say, 40 sth is old, so 20+ is middle age liao... figures all starting to zou3 yang4. ivan is not the only one lor...

anyway had a fun day. and very tired... so shall not write too much... yawnz...

couldn't sleep last night... dunno why these few days have problem sleeping. woken up by false alarm at RH at 9am... diao... lasted for 10min some more. met guofeng for lunch in sch. wah so many ppl in sch today. lerming shanshan zhishen weifa zhiwei roger zhixiang... ended up chatting till it's time for presentation.

went in the classroom and had a shock. went in at 2.30pm when the first person is supposed to have finished but he's just half way through. btw he's the kok who? (kok hoo) from our HR class. he's dressed in shirt and pants and doing a full length formal power point presentation lor. the second person also... power point super long and detailed. then i sat there on the spot throw in 5 new slides. but the fact that i was wearing slippers couldn't be helped lor. in the end i also crapped for half an hour until the prof kept looking at his watch. anyway he din ask many qns and probably was a bit confused by me. the last gal was left with only 15min... hey but not my fault i kept to my time limit!!!

bridget jones 2 is a very nice movie! no matter what the reviews say!!! bridget is so cute and so funny!!! and mark darcy is soooo sweet!!! love that show!!!

anyway it's time to go out and enjoy a bit liao heehee!

today is such a boring day. trying to do more for FYP, only solved one function and did 10 slides. lazy and blur were too bored, came over to read comics. qh messaged me to say got weibo on channel 8. took some time to open up IE, type address, login, wait for it to connect. then only see 红星大奖 (which lerming translated as red star big award), dun haf weibo... sob sob... the award ceremony is so boring... yawnz...

luckily tml CA2 is in the afternoon, anything but ask me to wake up early...

slept for twelve hours plus straight last night. woke up only in the afternoon. so shiok!!! lazy woke me up for a while with her harbour front got vnc outlet msg but think i just pressed it and went back to sleep. and then dreamt that a group of us bumped into her and her hall frenz on their way to sentosa. both groups eating at a hawker centre and she was sitting next to david... lol...

had another dream in which i m taking a so called speed up course in which everything they teach also super duper chim and i was in a total lost, wanted to quit. and then there was some dunno wat rocket trip. and we had to rush through the whole city (not sg, not beijing, somewhere else) to get to there in time, then we stood in the rocket that shot up and flew high high high... haha so funny...

went jurong point to cut my hair in the afternoon. same place, same hair dresser. but today it's so super crowded i had to sit outside to wait for a while. should have called to make appointment. think i waited for about 45min bah... was so bored... jenny my hair dresser say she's been busy since morning, working nonstop, sometimes on a few customers simultaneously and forget about one of them let her sit under the steamer for dunno how long. wahahaha... then luckily i caught her at the end of the day. had a good chat with her, talked about hair styles and bitched about singaporean guys. coz i was telling her i m so jealous of her height (think she's about 1.75m), coz ppl always make fun of me becoz of my height. and she was telling me that when you are that tall, u wanna be shorter, else when she wears heels and walks on the street she feels v abnormal. and apparently it's harder to find a bf coz the cute singaporean guys are mostly short, and can hardly find good looking tall guys. so the cute short guys belong to gals like me according to her. wahahaha... errr... but she has bf i dun haf leh...

quite like my new hair cut, it's supposed to be a messy stylish look. it's good to stick to one hair dresser coz she knows what i want. e.g. she knows i m lazy so purposely cut one style that no need to blow dry. haha...

after that went to orchard to collect my biotherm redemption. wahhh... orchard is soooo super crowded... ppl are all out for x'mas shopping bah... but not many places got sales leh...

it's v noisy outside my hall now. a noise of machine digging and drilling stuff... dunno wat they are doing. got a funny smell also... at 1am in the morning... dah... slept so much still feeling tired... old liao...

wine party

yesterday was a crazy day... met sup at 9.30am and came back to sleep at 10am. woke up at 1+ in the afternoon and sat in front of my computer doing the report from 2pm to 8pm without lifting my butt from the chair for even once. 6hrs could pass so fast... determined to finish the report so i could go to the wine party haha...

dunno how come suddenly there was such a gathering. probably lerming is too bored when wala is under renovation and happens that he got lot of extra wine in his house. party started at 9 plus. three bottles of wines, chilled. blur and L.M. the two big drinkers even bought a set of 4 wine glasses and a pail to put ice and chill the wine. not mentioning that the two of them got each other a big box of houlgarden(how to spell ah?) as x'mas present...

three bottles emptied at 12 midnight and we had three lobsters: weifa, greedy and me. haha... guofeng, zhishen and weifa left to catch last bus. and soon guofeng came back coz he contacted alex and arranged to stay in his room, and zhishen was in his gf's room typing on msn saying he's feeling dizzy. aiyoyo... dun 酒后乱性 leh... blur or greedy messaged weifa to make sure he has gotten on the train safely. then we were saying at that time he's probably still in nus coz he's so red that the bus drivers refuse to let him get on the bus and no cab drivers want to take him. hehe but apparently he got home safely. (now weifa is telling me on msn that he got on the bus v briskly so that the bus driver wouldn't have noticed his face colour. and he slept on 95 and dropped his book while sleeping. so short a distance also can concuss...)

gradually the effect of alcohol wore down and the chit chatting started... then as usual it all starts with a gossip session... one by one interrogation... *sweat* but nothing much was dug out. then somehow it changed to L.M. talking about his army life. it's quite interesting though. and then childhood stories. and a revision of chinese oldies... guofeng is quite surprised that we remember all the title and lyrics of the old songs. haha... coz that time not many songs to listen to mah.

before we knew it, it was already 6am in the morning. congratulations to guofeng for breaking his record. after i went back, added in one paragraph for the report, printed it out (printed several times due to error and lousy quality of pirated printer ink... sigh waste of paper) and went to sleep at 7am. and amazingly i could not sleep!!! think i only fell asleep close to 8am and woke up at 9+ to hand in my report and play badminton.

chey in the end only ray lim, qinyi, guofeng and me playing... the rest nv came... due to severe lack of sleep... reaction and accuracy and strength all affected. haha just kenna thrashed throughout lor (ya wat's new right?). best thing is when i paired up with guofeng he was standing behind me and smashed the shuttlecock on my head lor. haiz... pain leh... already not v awake liao...

then shower, lunch... came back to my room and concussed from 3 to 6pm. had lots of weird dreams... probably talked too much nonsense liao brain also full of nonsense...

apparently last night was sleepless in singapore. the raymonds and co were having supper, qinghui and friends were playing mahjong until no one come to play badminton, and this side of town there is a wine party and ppl are getting crazy!

was in lab this afternoon... haiz... jialat liao... the code i wrote can't even run on the lab computer... ahhhh... is there some error or issit so computational intensive that even pentium 4 1.7GHz 256MB Ram also cannot take it?????

realised the source code written by the previous post grad not only got bugs, but the later part i dun understand at all! it's all about file handling and i m not familiar with that. somehow the directories are wrong and files are not created and her code can't be run... haiz... how can she specify in the code that the file must be from certain directory??? then must use that particular computer to run wat? then i can't include those few functions in my report lor coz i think by friday i won't be able to solve the problems.

but good thing is i got go out today!!! yeah!!! went for this body bar lesson at amore cineleisure. it involves the usage of this about 1.5m long heavy weight bar thingee... first time trying... and it's the most high impact lesson we've taken so far!!! after the one hour workout literally trembling man... and the instructor got some sadist tendency leh... she always makes those weird mourning sounds during the workout as if it's v torturing but she's enjoying it that kinda sound... 'ahhh... ohhhh...' u know wat i mean... mourning... and she keeps shouting things like 'come on, you want toned legs?' 'show them the sexy bicepts!' 'the most exciting part is yet to come!' ' i love this part!' 'last set!...... sorry i lied, one more!' grrr...

there were three gals from hcjc in the lesson too. they went in PE t-shirt lor. haha... long time nv seen ppl wearing lidat liao. should be went directly from sch bah... in our jc days also always wear PE t-shirt wandering around and always tuck out one... but kids nowadays are rich ah. even if got student package i dun think back then i would be able to afford such lessons lor. anyway it would nv cross my mind to join sth like this coz that time every week got PE lesson, run 2.4 several times a week and every week swim 40 laps... haha now old liao...

after that greedy went to watch movie with markie boy. lazy and me went walk walk. walked past mandarin hotel. think got prom night there. was telling lazy that the ppl there are all young dressed old. and apparently we are old dressed young.

lazy bought one big one small cushions for thur night's drinking session. haiz... see if i can finish my report in time lor... else got cushion i also no chance to sit... my pet brother called me today say he's having some geek computer camp at raffles hall so wanna pop over to see how i am. coz he bumped into blur and she told him i m v stressed. i was outside then. but seriously really dun have the energy to meet him leh... coz nothing else to say except telling him that yr4 is v stressed and he's lucky he's not in engin blah blah... i'd rather spend the time alone... haha getting aloof... issit a sign of becoming a nerd? and my 干姐姐 called from beijing saying she's reaching singapore on monday with her hubby. errr... wat day issit today ah?

today a senior from arts that i haven't seen for a long time talked to me on msn. coz i put my nick as 'how to implement mouse drawing?' wat i meant is i need to implement mouse freehand drawing on bitmap files using c++. then my dear senior told me to go buy a mouse pen... ah dah... realised this whole semester i haven't been meeting up with any friends that are not from EE yr4. haha coz they dun understand our pain...

stayed up till 4+ in the morning and slept till 2pm... at last i got a good night of sleep.

weather is so gloomy. wanted to go lab but it kept raining... nvm there is enough to keep me busy on my own computer... got a feeling i will have either difficulty finishing my report or difficulty of completing enough before meeting sup...

counting down to next monday... effectively still got 7 days. only one day has passed meh? how come i feel like it's been a month? this is definitely worse than exam period. that time at least got mugger buddies to talk cock with. now... think i m spending my days like a hermit.

fyp really sucks big time! *those agree with me raise ur hand* the problem with my code still not solved. anyway can't test the new method i wrote coz my computer will hang upon intensive computation and lab is closed on weekends. searched high and low for source code online but the more i read the more confused i get. some of the source code i downloaded can't even compile and no point i debug it for them lor when i dun even understand what they are writing. so back on my own again.

since can't continue with programming now shall try to write my report but realised there are so many things that i need to add inside again it's getting really messy. oh no all the comp vision stuff coming back to haunt me... gaussian filter, median filter, log filter... and all sorts of edge detectors... diao...

now found a good image processing lib online and there are some interesting things i wanna include in my code too. but guess it has to wait for a while first until i organise my report structure...

wisdom tooth

as i was munching on some cookies, suddenly my mouth felt a bit weird. the first wisdom tooth of mine finally emerged with the entire of its chewing surface is exposed, and a piece of flesh became detached from the gum but still dangling on the gum. tried to pull it but it started bleeding... haiz... why must i grow wisdom tooth? will it squeeze the rest of the teeth so much the alignment became deformed? should i go see dentist?
