ハウルの動く城 / Hauru no Ugoku Shiro

been going out a lot recently...

thanks guys for the wonderful birthday celebration u all threw for me. hehe the crabs were really good. hmm come to think of it i've never eaten crabs this big (well, i dun eat crabs v often tt's a fact). juz too bad din see the dry ice in the chocolate. think it all disappeared when i reach hall.

watched howl's moving castle today, another anime by studio ghibli, directed by miyazaki my favourite anime producer!!! his anime are just sooooo fine and fasinating, with a touch of humanity and a hint of magic. the themes are never too childish coz miyazaki produces anime for not only children but ppl of all age. watching howl's moving castle, is like taking a ride on the merry-go-round, looking down at the changing landscape of the world. no wonder the theme song is a waltz tune called 'merry-go-round of life'. howl (or hauru in jap) is simply so handsome, haha they made a good choice to get Takuya Kimura to do the voice coz he's the most suitable for the character, both in looks and charisma. (drooling all over.) and there is this stupid dog yean who has legs too short and could never get up any steps and ends up running in circle in sheer frustration, the talking fire calcifier, the witch of waste who ogles and drools at anything beautiful (esp cute guys). last but not least the heroine (all of miyazaki's shows have a brave heroine who is not necessarily pretty but has a lot of characters).

have faith, and all spells will be broken.

forgot to switch off my hp last night and reluctantly woke up to the beeping of incoming messages at 8+, 9+, 10+ and 12+ respectively. had so many dreams... my flying broom is not working and etc...

the realisation of the fact that i m already 24 yrs old is sinking in. two days ago there was this stranger added me on msn. since there has rarely been the cases where strangers trying to talk to me, i added him/her and asked who he/she is. turned out he/she doesn't know who i am and started asking my name blah blah. when i didn't reply he/she said 'i m 12. how old are u?' that was the moment i decided there is absolutely no chance i know this person so i blocked him/her and deleted the contact. gosh i m twice as old as this kid! (still wondering how on earth did he/she get my email address though.)

been shopping for working wear lately, checking out blouses, proper pants and work jackets. whenever i look at cuter clothes such as pink cotton tube top with lacy flower brooch some ppl keep telling me that it's not my age. well, time to revamp my image?

my birthday cake Posted by Hello

surprise!

thank you buggies!!! i was really surprised or rather shocked to see u all appear at my door at midnight with a cake with lighted candles. haha... for quite a few yr nv heard the happy birthday song already.

had quite a chaotic situation, with all the msn messages coming in, hp beeping and room phone ringing and three ppl in my room waiting for me to cut the cake...

thanks everyone for remembering my birthday and all the greetings! thank you qinghui(though i ended up calling u at midnight to tell u about booking acs lab2), ivan, small ray, bingjie, weijie, hxy(dun think he's reading this blog though) for the greetings. thanks weifa for flooding the msn window with all the emoticons. thanks big ray and kay leong for putting greeting message as ur msn nick. haha and thanks lerming for all those rubbish u talked in order to occupy my time while the bugs sneaked up my block. (now do i sound like i m giving a post award-winning speech?)

anyway... dun buy cakes from breadtalk, esp tiramisu.

and lazy, hope ur haze-induced mental block cures soon.

really like this part of the year, when it's always sunny outside but the sunlight doesn't shine into my room the entire day. cool wind blows...

singtel is having big problems today. i could never ever send out any sms. the network gives me only limited service. and even their hotline got congestion. no wonder singtel engineers are not well paid... or issit BECAUSE they are not well paid?

a dream of red

my dream was red. it looked like blood, but at a closer look, maple leaves that were scattered on the ground. there was a tree, maple tree. the leaves were red like burning fire. the sky was painted a orangy red colour, as if it was lighted by the flame of a strong fire.

i wish i could take a picture of that, language is so pale and feeble sometimes.

yet, isn't it interesting that from the same description, no individula paints a mental picture as another? the pale and feeble language leaves us so much room for imagination...

one more thing about nose operations. i have a friend how has his nose operated on before and word is two rubber tubings will be stuck up ur nose all time for the entire duration. can't remember if he mentioned that the tubings were there before and after the operation as well. let's hope not.

hmm absurd that i m writing this at 3am in the morning huh? had a nice sleep till noon. it's weekend and the weird guys in raffles hall lion dance team finally stopped their morning practices and let me sleep in peace. these few days they've been hitting the drums and whatever instruments u call those at 8am in the morning. no idea if they really do the dances coz i dun bother to stick my head out and look. and seems like they got a truck and goes around making noise. a new kinda morning call?

anyway had quite a few interesting thoughts today. maybe will take time to organise them and write it down some other day. hopefully i won't forget about it. anyway i m reading this book called 'the world according to mimi smartypants' by well mimi smartypants! haha... it's actually her blog which was made into a book. this lady here is hilarious. funny to no end. but u know, i m hoping that i dun turn out to be as crazy as her reading too much of that. although i m sometimes crazy enough. like now?

did i mention to anyone that i ate only one meal today and it was stir fried potato?

my fairy name is diamond whistling nightingale. haha

http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/291/

was bored and reading other ppl's blog by clicking on e 'next blog' button on my page. and began to wonder what is the percentage of english users writing blogs, and what is the percentage of singaporeans writing blog.

assume that the search is totally randome. sometimes as i browse, very often that i come across some blogs written by singapore teenage girls (very distinct, with all the pinky and starry decoration on the page and small small fonts squeezed inside on little pathetic box). this time though, what's been popping up are mostly non-english blogs.

normally, one glance i could tell whether it is or it is not english. and apparently there was this blog that i decided it's malay or some exotic weird european languages with the first look and only after i already navigated away did i realise that it MIGHT actually be english. and guessed wat? another singaporean teenage girl's page, with all that teenage way of writing coded english that would confuse a junior college GP teacher. http://jiahui16.blogspot.com/

maths

term break again. it marks that 1/2 of the semester is gone.
blur's msn nick is 'quater life crisis'. well, 1/4 of our lives is gone. (well though i'd be very happy if now is exactly 1/4 of my life, coz that means i can live 96yrs.)
2months, half a semester of our student lives left, 3/4 of our lives to live, finishing 145 modular credits to graduate, looking for the 1st job, and wondering for the nth time, what i want in life...

24yrs...

called qh to ask about advanced control lab report and no one answered the phone. when he finally called back after quite a while, it seems that he was lying somewhere sun tanning on a basketball court with a bleeding nose that was elbowed right on by eric. from what he has described, he has shed blood all over the basketball court, i assume not in a very heroic way. these guys think they are still tough teenagers who bleed like sweat.

when i was 13, studying in my parents' school, first grade, i always looked upon the students in my mother's calss as cool and sophisticated senior students, who are 5yrs older than me. there was this once that this guy in her class got into trouble with some other guy from another class because of a girl, some innocent stuff of borrowing homework or those sort of things and they broke into a fight. another guy in my mother's class wanted to make peace and was punched directly on the face. one punch and his nose bone broke. had to insert some steel thingee inside there. and his classmates went mad and wild, swearing to take revenge and waiting at the school gate with bricks in hand and all those things... haha heroic act coz the punching guy was one notourious member of one gang or dunno wat... remember that i was running around after my mother that time when she was all over the school looking for her students, talking to them and trying to settle the matter. first time i heard about such things and a broken nose. that was truly exciting for me at that time. and how cool it was i thought, just like tv dramas. kinda wished that when i grew up to 17, 18yrs old sth lidat would happen in my own life as well, that some poor classmate of mine would break someone's nose or had his nose broken... but well... never happened... not everyone's life can be exciting in that sense i guess...

hazy hot stuffy day

greedy u rem daniel from 00S21? his mother is a MP right? i think she's featured in this month's herworld. coz saw daniel's photo in there. he looked very young back in 1997 hahahaha... well he probably is still very young now.

disastrous afternoon

what a hot day... i came back happily with a 1.5L bottle of chilled sprite ice from the yih shop. without any accident, reached my room safely. as i put it on my table and turned the cap, a fountain of sprite shot out in all directions. i was so shocked i could only stare at it. didn't even shook it on the way lor!!! and then my desk and my floor both flooded with sweet sticky sprite... best...

had a hard time cleaning... just washed, wiped and blew dry my computer keyboard... hair dryer is a clumsy gal's best friend...

v day

movie date with lazy and blur. watched at jurong point coz wanted to avoid the crowd. seoul raiders. hmm... the only thing nice about the show is tony leung. was looking for dinner place afterwards and even KFC was fully packed. all the better restaurants got super duper long queue. the one outside swesen's queued all the way from 2nd floor to ground floor. ended up going back to clementi and ate at pizza hut there. v day ah v day... everywhere is so crowded...

dinner at lerming's

thanks a lot lerming for the dinner! but the soccer was boring... anyway i think lazy had a pretty good time watching the fish... haha...

happy valentine's day everybody!

orchard on saturday

went KB at cineleisure. Ray's lesson is ever so tiring... went walk walk at orchard after the lesson. saw this 5-yrs old kid playing drums outside heeren. there is a board in front saying he's the youngest drummer in singapore. quite cute leh the kid, wearing a luminous blue sun glasses... and he's really not bad, at least for his age. a lot of ppl were watching and taking photos. the one thing i dun quite like is there is a can there for coins collection. although there is nothing wrong to earn some bucks showing off his talent but i think this kinda thing really is not suitable for a 5-yrs old kid.

almost forgot today is saturday, sigh have lesson on saturday really spoils the mood. was wondering how come there are so many ppl in orchard. haha...

now there is sth fun. had a visit to the lingerie department at Tangs after its renovation. there is only one word... "wow!" not only the display and collection, the fitting room is like on of a kind in singapore i guess. haha i know that most of the ppl reading my blog would never have a chance to see how it's like inside there so here i offer a description (too bad didn't bring camera). it's a circular setting and in the middle is this super big round cushion with a mannequine lying on top wearing skimpy night gown, with her legs bent and open. (quite weird. actually was a bit shocked to see it.) and a few staff (mostly aunties) sitting around it folding lingeries... even more weird looking now... surrounding the centre cushion are the fitting rooms. the doors are those chinese antique type, dark coloured wood with golden handles. (got a picture?) inside is almost about the size of my hostel room!!! (sob sob... see... tt's how nus students are treated.) one of the walls in the room is entirely a big mirror, at the other end is a round zebra-printed cushion with diameter of about 1.5m. at the back is a wall made up by numerous diamond shaped small mirrors. can see so many of your reflections inside. if i din rem wrongly there is also draped maroon velvet curtains. haha... really makes the customers feel like stars in the VIP room of some nightclubs. interesting hor?

on my way back saw a jap cute guy and a greek cute guy (my guess, coz he has some weird accent and is wearing a GREECE shirt) on the train. really looks like statue leh the features... haha...

so tired now...

dream

played badminton this morning. came back after lunch and took a long nap. had this dream, which is not good, neither was it bad. it's just a simple dream in which i m all alone in my hostel room, with my hp spoilt, internet connection gone. i know that lazy and blur are somewhere but i m just not able to get them, not able to talk to them... it's the kinda dream that leaves me feeling alone, and lost... sometimes, security is simply having ppl around u...

the day my cat left

went to watch constantine, and lost my favourite cat brooch... my dear little black cat with gold lining and sparkling eyes and little cute bow on her neck... had been looking for sth lidat for like... hmm... one or two yrs? and finally bought it online. now it's out of stock for probably eternity. sulk... i m turning into a mad cat myself...

Constantine is not bad. full of demons and black humour. Satan is a stock holder of cigarette company and Constantine showed middle finger to him when he's going to heaven... diao... keenu reeves is simply marvellous!

haiz... probably my cat went to hell...

cny 2005

i guess no one would be so free to check my blog during the festive season, so pardon me for the delay haha... anyway here is a recap of what happened during the chinese new yr eve and the first day of the rooster yr.

had a lecture on new yr eve. just imagine how boring it could be, totally in no mood for that... and qinghui kept singing '大地回春', only these four words coz he doesn't know the rest of the song. had lunch at clementi and went to buy some more food. the grey and white cat is there again. it laid down to let me scratch its tummy, how cute! haha... with all four limbs stretched out straight... such a lazy cat in the sunny afternoon.

tried to take a nap before the activities of the night begins but hp keeps beeping. all the greeting messages are coming in already. got up at 5pm, waited till 6pm, messaged lazy and she told me she just got up, need to take a quick shower and will come over soon. 40min later greedy said lazy is still showering... and while they said they would be here at 5 to 6pm, they reached at 7+. well done... dinner was steamboat plus my 油焖大虾 and 醋溜白菜. we got chicken, pork, beef, fish, tofu (冻豆腐actually coz it was misplaced in the freezer), mushrooms, 粉丝, crab stick and 白菜. ate until sooooooooooo full... finished dinner at 9+, cleared everything up and took some funny photos. tv is on and it's time for cards. haha...

CCTV 春节晚会 started at 2.30am, not very interesting though. except that there is this 千手观音 dance performed by a group of 聋哑人. damn impressive! they are professionally trained i think. but still, just imagine that they can't hear the music at all... the fluidity and accuracy of their movements are stunning. it's so well sychronized that when they stretch out or take back their hands in a consecutive manner, it's so fast and so well coordinated it looks unhuman. in fact to a certain extent this movement resembles the legs of an insect when it's suddenly touched. but of course much more prettier than that. they are even of the same height and similar body shape lor...

before we know it, the night has passed and there is daylight. 7+ in the morning. the three bugs left and i slept till 1.30pm. activity dominated the day-watching the jap drama Pride. finished 8 discs at one go. shiok!!! it's really a great show! no wonder qh recommends it so highly. ice hockey plus a romantic love story... confirm cry one lor. well really dun feel like coming back to the real world. how good everything all seems in the drama. 木村拓哉 is simply so handsome, lovely, charismatic and wonderful! 'Maybe...' haha...

now is already the second of the rooster yr... rooster... my 本命年... so fast two rounds liao...

new yr is coming and 小辣椒 is out in full force

today is a busy day... had lesson, rushed through lunch and went to meet dentistry sup. sup v nice leh... very friendly, say everything is fine. and opened the door for me when i was leaving leh...

then came back to engin to meet engin sup... ai... the contrast... ok but at least this time he gave some constructive suggestions. but... he thinks i m finishing soon so dun wan me to be too free... gave me a lot of extra stuff to do... sobz... having headache again...

came back napped for a while and got woken up 3 times... had a weird dream. dreamt that got these 2 very very cute little piglets... the took turns to pull this little cart driven by an little old witch... haha... then the other piglet not pulling the cart just runs at the side, with the two rear feet... very cute leh!

dinner outing at seah street deli near raffles hotel, recommended by small ray, because of sentimental reasons. haha... american styled restaurant issit? if i m not wrong... haha reminds me of Jack Rabbit Slim's in Pulp Fiction. bully me leh, the elvis burger took so long to come. but at least it tastes not bad. ivan disappeared for very long and came back with lots of male perfume samples. haha perfume guy... always put so much until pungent when going out, but soon replaced by some other smell... wahahaha...

anyway ivan has become the target of the evening. when qinghui has successfully lost 4kg with plenty of exercise and a reduction in appetite probably, ivan's weight gain until 65kg is amazingly significant lor. but well, who knows? probably he has been so heavy all this while? hahahaha... fyi, ivan is now 9kg heavier than qinghui, and only 2cm taller. and about the qn raised by ivan that qinghui didn't grow taller since sec sch, my opinion is that even though ivan has been growing for so many yrs he's still this height lor, at least qinghui has been 'tall' when he was younger. well i dun mean to target ivan lah... just can't help it. haha...

small ray say there is firework at esplanade. walked halfway and saw it. hmm a bit the low budget lah. they say probably it's new yr and x'mas left overs haha... anyway got recorded it down on video.

then is drinks at bakers in. somehow i slapped guofeng's head quite a few times. haha can't rem why already. then he walked half way say feeling dizzy, must lean on bingjie's shoulder... hmm... not my fault lah... must be the fireworks... haha... despite his dizziness this guy still can't shut his mouth up lor. my poor innocent panda's house cartoon was morphed into japanese hentai by some perverted mind. no wonder head dizzy... played some stupid games at the coffee place but no punishment so not fun. took some photos also, then somehow almost all the photos contain some extra things held by one extra person... haha... anyway the photos are here http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2131053648

one lesson ppl should learn... don't dare me and put ur head within the radius of convenience for me to slap...

hmm what else is interesting? big ray thinks lazy and lerming are together coz one of them has the msn nick 'you and i both' and the other one has it as 'sit down next to me'. wahahaha... so imaginative... didn't know wala songs got such effect...

北方饭店

lunch treat for the four bugs by hxy. haha dunno what it's for but as long as got free food i shall not reject. a small restaurant at this ulu corner of chinatown. find the bee cheng siang bak gua store first then walk straight turn right when see a green coloured sign board of a tour agency and the restaurant is located opposite the road. the restaurant owner is from 东北 and it serves dishes from north part of China. customers there are all ppl from China also, so should be quite authentic.

haha anyway realised that we are actually pretty good at eating, swept the food really fast. my personal favourite is the 酸菜粉. really nice and quite authentic! the last dish was the 拔丝地瓜 and blur's favourite, haha she had a hard time digging the 地瓜 up from the plates though...

bought groceries for cny reunion dinner at clementi ntuc since hxy was around so might as well ask him to help carry. wahahaha... no this is not exploiting, this is called reasonable maximization of available resources. but think he almost pulled his hair out today coz we(esp me) suaned him too much... too bad lah...

wala night

last night was wala night with the buggies, lerming and zhishen. it's been a while since i last went there... as usual, packed to the ceiling on a friday night because of the band. the queue at the door is very long and blur and greedy were stuck there for quite a while coz it's full house. but this time at least got seats thanks to the early birds lerming and zhishen. haha...

quite a fun night, the usual songs were sang, plus some new ones. all typically wala songs. haha... and we played quite a lot of stupid games like twisting ur fingers and 7-ups. greedy seemed to enjoy her drinks really much. wah drinking alot and fast.

today the joints of my right hand fingers are a bit painful...

i don't care if monday is blue, tuesday is grey and wednesday too, thursday i don't care about you, it's friday i'm in love... Robert James Smith's nasal voice is just soooooo... truly time enduring...

dead poets society

another movie. made in 1989, robbin williams' dead poets society. got this movie from kenny during IA and haven't watched until now. ethan hawk was really young and cute then...

well the reason why i initially searched for this film was because of the movie 'mona lisa smile' last yr, starred julia roberts. both movies are a bit similar, one male and one female version. about a non-traditional teacher in a tranditional school, that brought inspiration to a group of students, teach them to go out of comformity and live the life they want to. in the end, some shit happens, the teacher has to leave the school and the students finally realised what a strong bond they had formed with the teacher. well... each character is portrayed very well... young and inspiring... touching in a sense. not bad not bad.

pulp fiction

Finally finished watching pulp fiction. Lately haven't been able to find a time to watch the whole movie at one go. Broke it up into like 4 or 5 parts.

it's another film by the legendary director Quentin Tarantino in 1994. Said to be a cult film. Cult in a sense that so many people have watched it so many times without getting bored. Unfortunately, the dialogues in the film is fast and furious, decorated with all sorts of variations of the f-word to no end, and there is no subtitle. With only half the understanding of what they are saying, I still find the movie fanscinating. a ganster story told in a totally different way. not much of car chasing, open fire, all the characters are all so extreme yet normal. and the way the story is told, not by chronological order, but in the end all bits of the stories linked up themselves.

haha and there he pulled his famous samurai knife again... and i just love uma thurman as mia...

graduating syndrome

2nd of feb. less than 3 month to end of NUS.

it's hard to verbalise it clearly but somehow i feel that ppl are behaving differently. first there is this never-ending talk about career, all the banking, marketing, insurance selling, entrepreneur stuff... during lunch, during any time... and then ppl are becoming emotionally restless... love is in the air... formation and breaking up of couples are not uncommon. it's like a bug that infected so many... not mentioning the phenomenon of ppl coming back to labs after office hour or during weekends, almost camping inside sch. we are all so busy with all these things. no one would actually stop and stop, sit and stare. there is this uneasy feeling floating around... melancholy about leaving sch? i think most ppl will deny. stressed by sch work? nervousness and uncertainty about entering the work force? or the anxiety of completing the second fyp? or maybe a bit of everything?

i dun quite like it, but unluckily i m not spared. probably we are all having this graduating syndrome.

something, anything...

at this rate, i m afraid this blog will be closing down. really scraping my brain for blogging ideas. not an eventful day definitely. played the thumb game with qh during lect break again and i lost this time... damn! but still got win once lah. then ppl around us all turned to watch. suddenly became the centre of the attention. say i fierce? hmpf... came back slept for a while and did some fyp. yeepee... being constructive lately

just washed off this new mask i was trying... some dead sea mud thingee which is supposed to detoxify and blah blah... i got this thing about trying different masks. this one... hmm... dun quite like the texture. it dries up and cakes on my face, which means quite hard to wash off. and after washing off, my skin feels a bit tight. recommend this laneige pore clear mint pack. 39 bucks and can use for very long. it's a peel off mask that contains tea tree extract and mint. both are antiseptic in nature. prefer peel-off masks actually, though some ppl say it's not good. haha turning into a girly talk this post.

reminded me that today during lunch guofeng, zhiwei and i were discussing the issue of guys giving lingerie to gals as presents. and they say that there are so many colour, cuttings, fabrics, sizes, designs it's so hard to find the right one. conclusion as they had: bottom line is don't buy. hahahaha

feb is a month of romance singapore. Herworld mag had this interview with the SDU head who is a 40+ woman married with no kids. some of her ideas appeared quite funny to me. she say that one of the reasons ppl are not getting attached and married is because they are too healthy. the fitness craze these days made the gals think that they are invincible. well... i do admit that going to a all-female fitness centre twice a week doesn't help a girl find her perfect guy unless she's eyeing the weirdo instructor, and it is indeed true that ppl tend to feel more needy when they are sick, but... overall i still dun quite see the link... and there is this funny thing about having to kiss enough frogs before finding a prince... ** kinda crappy leh... not mentioning the 'although she may seem healthy and young but her eggs are running out'... diao...

a normal life

finally did some fyp... after slacking for soooooo long, need to pick it up and live my life normally, do sth meaningful and useful. climb out of that rabbit hole gal! it's a real world outside!
